Happy Friday Friends!
It is Just Add Ink BLOG HOP challenge time and the first for 2021! As we always do at Just Add Ink, we are starting off the year with a blog hop and given the year just gone and current circumstances, we decided on the theme of "Family"...This can be absolutely any project theme, as long as its for a family member or about your family.
I know from talking to many friends and family during this time, that the lack of physical contact and the stress relating to not being able to actually see those we love and worry about was a huge thing.
For me not seeing my grandkids regularly was huge, but also worrying about my dad and step-mum was really hard.
Both turned 80yr during lockdown and with both having health issues and being immune compromised and ending up in hospital it really sucked, especially as the hospital due to covid did not allow visitors.
Unfortunately my step mum is due for more surgery and although visiting is now allowed, it is the "ONE" rule...One visitor, for one hour, once a day, which l totally get, but makes it so hard.
So, my project is to send to her, to let her know l care, even if l cant be there...At least l can hopefully keep my dad company when he's not visiting her and l know she will love it, as she had been dabbling in cardmaking classes at her local community center pre-covid and gave me a beautiful handmade card for my recent birthday.
I decided on the Pretty Perennials Bundle, the Painted Textures 3D embossing folder and added a diecut greeting from the Well Written dies.
The colours l chose are Flirty Flamingo (2nd Generation)-Blushing Bride-Mossy Meadow-Old Olive-Mango Melody and then Coastal Cabana on the embossed panel done with the Blending Brushes.
RIP Ralph!
Family isn't always two legged and this beautiful boy got his last cuddles after 14yrs last night. He was our time share puppy (my sons dog) but being a people pooch, he spent a lot of that time with us while my son was at work and l will miss my furry shadow and his cuddles and click clack dance on the floorboards in the mornings...love you furball!
The JAI team have created lots of fabulous projects and you can click on the link above to find the full list of design team links on the blog. But now you can click on the link or "Next" banner below to keep hopping and head over to my sweet and talented friend Kim Badelt.
Thanks for stopping by!
That is just absolutely stunning Nikki and I know that your step mum will cherish it. Wishing her well! x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Nikki. I hope you're step-mum recovers from her surgery quickly. It's so hard being separated right now. My mum just had a lot of health issues the past year and just had further surgery in Sydney on Tuesday and it is awful that I am so far away and cannot be there for her. I am sure your step-mum will love this gorgeous card.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty card. I love your soft color choices!
ReplyDeleteYour card is beautiful, Nikki. I'm sure your step mum is going to absolutely love it & know how much you care. I'm so sorry about gorgeous little Ralph. It's such a big loss when they leave us. xx
ReplyDeleteWOW absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card...sure to bring a smile and brighten her day!! The pandemic has stolen so much from us...glad you can at least have a visitor even if it is only one at a time...the no visitor rule was terrible and detrimental to so many people!! At least we can make cards to brighten the day of others during this crazy time!! I just love a blog hop...hopping on over to the next one!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous card to say a heartfelt message Nikki. So sorry to hear about Ralph too, he was a gorgeous boy. Big hugs xx
