Just Add Ink #159...

OK.....So who stole this week? Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy that it's Friday, as that means the "EASTER BUNNY" will be here soon and it's an extra long weekend...:0)
Good Friday is pretty much my most fave day of the year. I generally spend it in my PJ"s (my best ones of course) just in case we get unexpected visitors...:0) Watching the "Royal Children's Hospital" appeal and just plain old chillin out!

So with Easter on our minds, our Just Add Ink challenge for you this week is from Kim and she suggested to just add "BUNNY'S".... Now you don't have to make an Easter card, l didn't and the Design Team is mixed, some have gone Easter and some have opted for other themes. Don't forget to go check them out, very cute!....Here's my take on the Bunny theme!

Yep!...It's another baby card...:0) I have to admit, this was not my first attempt at a bunny card for this challenge. I hadn't planned on making this one, but l was given this cute little wooden bunny a few weeks back (Thanks Sonja) and had yet to use him. He had originally started life green, but l just couldn't get him to look right on anything, so while l was mulling over some upcoming challenges tonight, it occurred to me to paint him...Duh!...Love him in cream and so before l knew it, l was cutting and stamping and "voila".

Cute & Colourful Baby!

Hey all!....I just had to pop in and share these little cutie's, l had so much fun making them and absolutely love how they turned out. I love how bright and colourful they are and how they are just perfect for "Boy or Girl".
It's not often l create something that makes me smile, as these do and especially as that makes two more for the "Baby" card collection...:0)

I used the Stampin-Up word window punch on both and the 1-3/4" & 3/4" circle punches, the greeting is from Friendly Phrases and the colours are Tempting Turquoise-Pumpkin Pie-Daffodil Delight and Real Red-Whisper White & Basic Black inks, along with card stock ink colours for sponging- Wood grain Emb/folder.

Just Add Ink #158...

Hey stampers, "Whoohoo" it's Friday and that means the weekend is upon us and it's Just Add Ink challenge time again. This week we have another great sketch from Mae to play with.

Now I'm not normally one to think outside the box when it comes to sketch's, but l did have a little fun with this one. I decided to flip it first and rather than use DSP for the horizontal layer, l used my Simply Scored Board instead. Not sure those lines stand out that well in the pic, but they are there and I'm pretty sure l used all of the components in the sketch.

As you can see, it's a pretty clean & simple one layer card, but still interesting enough l think and l do love the crisp black and white with the pop of purple and green. The leaves were created using one of the other flowers in the Secret Garden Set, as l liked the way they appeared more realistic looking.

The Just Add Ink girls have some great inspiration for you, so don't forget to stop by and check them out and hopefully you can join us and play along with this weeks challenge.

Pattern Play...Day#3

Today's cards are inspired by the lovely CAS style of Debby Hughes. Her cards really appealed to me today, especially as the style is fairly quick to produce, making homework a breeze...:0) But also a brilliant way to use scraps of different patterns and cut down on the waste.

These are kind of cute me thinks and as mentioned, a great way to clear out the off cuts!

Pattern Play....Day #2

Evening all......Well it seems I'm behind the eight ball once again, but l have caught up on my homework and thought l would pop in and share my card using a technique from Day #2 class by Jennifer McGuire. It was all about altering your DSP and toning down bold patterns in various ways.
I must say I'm not totally loving this card, but l did enjoy the technique and will be trying it again when l have a little more time to play.

Pattern Play....Day #1

Today heralds the start of a new class over at On-Line classes and one l am sure l will benefit from immensely, being what l call DSP challenged.
As l mentioned in a recent post, l really struggle using dsp as a rule, but l continue to purchase, yet rarely use a lot of it and certainly don't combine pattern dsp very often.
In today's class there were some great hints and techniques on how to choose and combine patterns and colours.....Eeek...all on one card!
I chose to give Jennifer's technique a go today, mainly as l have finally purchased the Heart Framelits from Stampin-Up and loved the cards she made. Plus l have a lovely little stack of 6" x 6" DSP pads and this technique is perfect for finally making a dent in them.
OK...so this post is a little photo heavy, but l really wanted to share all 4 cards with you.....

All of these were created using only 4 sheets of 6" x 6" DSP from the English Rose pad from Kaiser and some Very Vanilla card stock. The sentiments from SU are stamped in Bravo Burgundy. Pearls are also Kaiser.

Oh Whale.....

Good Morning!......As mentioned in an earlier post, I'm on a mission to fill my card box with some baby cards. Recently l ordered the new "Oh Whale" set and Sizzlit from Stampin-Up and they are ever so cute and versatile and just perfect for a "Baby" card.
I was pretty happy with the discovery that l could use Sizzlits with felt......Never new that! I will say though the felt l used was fairly thin, especially the blue, so l guess that helps. It has definitely opened up heaps of possibilities for the sweet collection of Sizzlits l have stashed away.

These were lot's of fun to make and super quick. I kept them simple, as l decided adding anything more would be overkill and I do love the feel and look of the felt, it adds just a little texture and gives an otherwise flat card some depth.

Papercraft Star Challenge...136 Green!

Well it seems it's "GREEN GREEN & GREEN" everywhere this week, so of course l pulled out green DSP to have a play with my new dress form dies from Stampin-Up and decided it was perfect for this weeks challenge over at Papercraft Star. The theme there this week is, you guessed it..."GREEN"!

Keep in mind, this is my first play with this die set and in hindsight l may have used the elements differently, but there's always next time...:0) and it was fun to play with.

Just Add Ink #157

Welcome to another Just Add Ink Challenge and this week Mae has challenged us to use "GREEN" in honor of "St Patricks Day".
You can use any shade , as long as it's predominately green.
I have seen so many cute "Onesie" cards around and thought this was the perfect time to try one. That and the fact l am on a mission to fill my card box with some ready made cards, other than Birthday cards, of which l have a plentiful supply. So "Baby" cards were first on my hit list and you will be seeing few post's coming up with this theme!

I had Lot's of fun making this one, apart from the fact that it was made over a yummy crafting lunch with friends, it was very quick and simple, especially as l kept it not too fussy!

How cute is that little bunting from LaLa Land. One of the girls at lunch had just purchased it and kindly let me cut some. Thanks Robyn!
The rest of the DT have used "Green" in such a variety of lovely ways to inspire you, don't forget to pop by Just Add Ink and check them out!

Shimmer Butterflies....

Evening all, thought l would pop in and share another water coloured creation with you. I coloured the butterflies using my watercolour pencils and Aqua pen and shadowed around them using a cool grey Copic marker and added some sparkle with a little Stampin-Up Champagne Shimmer Paint, applied with my Aqua pen straight from the bottle.

The card stock is Bashful Blue, Basic Black and Whisper White to match the butterfly colours. The greeting is from Friendly Phrases and the ribbon is a scrap from my early crafting days. I have no idea what brand the butterfly image is, l have had it forever and the sticker has worn off.
Pretty simple, but another fun colouring session!

A Daisy A Day....

Evening, just popping in to share a bright and cheery card with you. I have had this image stamped and ready to colour for ages and while l was tidying up my craft desk today, l got a little sidetracked and decided to colour and finish it off.....at least that's one less thing to put away..:0)

I pulled out my watercolour pencils for this one and spent a lovely half hour playing and thoroughly enjoyed the distraction from cleaning and the fun of colouring itself. I get so much enjoyment from water colouring and really, l should do more, as it's a great way to unwind and l do love the effect.

Just Add Ink #155

Goodness me! I just can't believe we are in March already and today is the first day of Autumn. I certainly feel like time is just passing me by at lightning speed these day's, must be old age maybe. Although, l do love the gorgeous colours that Autumn brings and milder weather, but hate the thought of  the cold weather on it's way. But l guess the bonus of  that is more inside time and hopefully more crafting time, so there is always an upside to everything...:0)

Anyway, onto what you came for....this week Mae has provided a great sketch challenge for us over at Just Add Ink and it was a nice and easy one to use!

I pulled out a few new goodies from Stampin-Up to use on my card and was pretty pleased with my efforts this week. I don't usually use a lot of Patterned DSP, other than spots and stripes and l tend to back away from anything to in your face in the pattern department. So incorporating the larger floral pattern from the Tea For Two Designer Paper on my butterfly was a plus.

I left the inside blank, as the sentiment on the front is fairly generic and that way l can use this for many occasions.
The rest of the DT have some beautiful inspiration for you, so pop by their blogs, leave them some love and play along if you can!
